Carnival Sensation - Western Caribbean

We booked this  4-day cruise in celebration of the Hub's 40th birthday (gasp!).  We took his parents along with us and asked for adjoining rooms.  We also bought the Cheers package for the first time ever.

Parking
For ease of getting to and from the cruise terminal, we sucked it up and paid the $20/day at Port of Miami.

The Ship
The Sensation got the 2.0 upgrades, which was great!  The theatre is still large and open, and there are now the following places: Blue Iguana Cantina, Guy's Burgers, and Alchemy Bar.  The Alchemy Bar is the largest I've seen, with a lot of couches and chairs to hang out.  Bartenders are great as usual.

 Cozumel
I booked a private island tour with Tours Plaza Cozumel. The prices are very reasonable, and we had a nice time with Jerry, our driver for the day.  He was very kind and friendly and let us decide what we wanted to do and when.  Would definitely recommend this company for anyone looking to book an island tour with lots of flexibility without breaking the bank.

    Nice explanation of Parking at Port of Miami Cruise, Safe Cruise Parking is my go to option before every sailing.

Carnival Breeze - Southern Caribbean

The Breeze ports in Miami and does several different itineries.  We chose an 8-day, which included Curacao, La Romana, Grand Turk, and Aruba. Parking in Miami Premier Cruise Parking ( premiercruisepark@bellsouth.net ), 1415 NE 2nd Ave. Parking Garage $8 per day, including tax.  Free shuttle to port.  The wait for the arrival of the shuttle at the parking garage going to port can be a little long, but it's worth it to us.  We've used this garage twice and will use it again.  I believe that it is better to prepay so you don't have to do it there. The Food The steakhouse is very much the same as any of the other Carnival steakhouses, but still very good. We also ate dinner in Cucina del Capitano - excellent food and service!  Highly recommend!  We also made use of Guy Fieri's Burgers several times - hello yumminess!  Tandoor Indian cuisine (aft pool location) and Blue Iguana burritos were also amazing.  We did not starve on this trip! ...

Boston, MA

I have always wanted to visit Boston and Salem, so we FINALLY made it happen this August.  Visiting at the end of August, doing a lot of the tourist-y stuff during the week is definitely the way to go.  The crowds were low Wednesday, Thursday, and most of Friday (the beginning of the Labor Day weekend). Hotel We stayed at the Boston Marriott at Long Wharf .  It’s not a cheap place to stay, but the location is fantastic if you are here to see the historical places in Boston.  It’s across the street from Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall and next to the New England aquarium and harbor cruises.  The Blue Line from the airport drops off at the hotel, as well as all of the tour trolley stops.  Walking into the North End/Little Italy is also very easy. Germany, Poland, and Prague

The great adventure of 2024 was a trip with our friends to Europe.  This post will not follow my regular pattern for travel posts, and we used a travel agent to arrange our trains and hotels Rail Bookers, but it should be helpful if you are planning a trip to these countries. Our travel agent was Pam from  Unwindwithbliss.com. Preparation German Language Learning Duo Lingo - I primarily used this app because it was convenient to do during my walks with the dog.  That said, if I’d been really serious about learning the language, I would use another option to supplement Duo. I spent about 7 months prepping with Duo Lingo, and while I am able to pick up on bits and pieces, I don’t feel that comfortable speaking it in general - only words and a couple short phrases. Rocket Languages - I accessed this through our public library and downloaded an app.  I didn’t use it much and regret not doing so as they use native speakers and not the weird AI generated voices of Duo Ling...
